Droom Running a Road Safety Drive on Social!

Road safety has become a major concern in developing country like ours. Ever increasing number of vehicles on roads and careless driving are leading up to jam packed roads and accidents.

As per a survey conducted by Road Safety Foundation, every minute an accident occurs on Indian roads with one serious injury, and one death every 4 minutes. During 2010, we lost over 1,61,695 human lives in 6,51,000 road accidents. Shocking! Isn’t it?
So, we started #DroomStaySafe drive to show some sensitivity towards human life. Through this drive we want to inculcate awareness that each life matters and it’s our responsibility to make Indian roads safe to drive and walk.

Most of the accidents happen due to negligence of the vulnerable road users be it cyclists, pedestrians, motorcyclists, car drivers or anyone else. With little care and attention we can drastically reduce the number of accidents happening around. If we pay some attention and drive responsibly, then a lot of accidents can be avoided. Make sure you -
·         Use seat belts
·         Do not use phones while driving
·         Follow speed limits
·         Do not drink & drive
·         Follow traffic rules and signs
These simple to follow tips and focused driving can help people get back home safe.
We are also running different campaigns under DroomStaySafe on social media, which includes -

#PedestriansFirst: to support pedestrians and let them walk through safe first
#SaveKidsLives: If we see the statistics every day 16 children die on Indian roads. This number is quite a lot. Let’s be attentive enough and drive slowly near schools and parks to avoid any fatal situation

#Ambulancefirst: Clumsy traffic tend to block ambulance. So, in case you see an ambulance, just let it pass first and you may save a life.

Our Traffic police are also playing an important role in preventing road accidents and regulating traffic. They go out of the way to handle traffic conditions. Various traffic personals have been deployed all around to control traffic, especially in big cities and metros, where a small carelessness lead up to fatal incidents and jam-packed roads.
One initiative taken is, #CarFreeDay, a campaign run by traffic police in order to motivate people to pool car and use public transport that will ultimately reduce pollution and  coagulation on roads.

Let’s care for each other and drive safe. Also downloademergency pocket guide to stay safe and secure while going from one place to another. Also participate in #droomStaySafe by sharing your viewpoints on Facebook or Twitter. Do share and retweet!
Have a happy journey!
